Um, er, well, you know *grin* [Nov. 19th, 2009|09:01 pm]

This is where I feel slightly sheepish and you indulge me.

Because, yes, yes, yes, this is another trip to a set. Another trip to an SVU set. I know, I know. But, but, I'm still trying to catch a certain person filming. And even when I *promise* myself that I'm going to swing by the set and immediately leave if that person isn't filming, well, you see, if they're actively actually filming when I get there, I have no control. I have to stay and watch. Because, honestly, I could watch people make TV all day and never get bored.

I suppose some of the photos could be spoilerish because of props and background used. But I was there and watched it filmed and I have no idea what it was about, so they're not that spoilerish.

Don't click on me unless you want SVU-ness! )

SVU filming and the Mayor [Sep. 21st, 2009|07:38 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , , , ]

Goodness gracious, what a day! I mean, what a DAY!

I thought it was going to be a regular Monday. Ho hum, can I go home and watch football yet? But NO. This day included seeing some SVU filming (which included seeing Christine Lahti, Chris Meloni, and John Laroquette), seeing the Mayor of NYC, Mayor Bloomburg, giving a press conference of some sort, and to top it all off, seeing the motorcade of the President of The United States!

I mean….they seriously expect me to *work* when there is such things going on out on the streets of New York?!? I think not!

Time to indulge in SVU...it's been so long. :D [Oct. 12th, 2008|09:20 pm]

Alright, SVU-time! (That's not as snappy as peanut-butter-jelly-time, but that's okay). Basically, the whole thing was just a trip.

The best part of SVU filming in my neighborhood was just how MUCH of it there was. They were here for two days straight and had at least four different sets within a two block radius of each other (not all at once)—two day sets and two night sets. And the set dressing and the equipment needed for all those sets and for lighting both day and night…walking around my block felt like I was walking around the back lots of Universal or something like that. The entire area was just movie magic where ever you looked. Not to mention the fact that every time I left my apartment I practically ran into Belzer, Meloni, or Ice-T or all three of them (but no Mariska Hargitay as she wasn't in any of these scenes). Also, the scenes themselves were generally interesting to watch film (one not so much, but one especially so).

So, all in all, a ton of fun and, as I said, just such a trip.

BTW, if you're not a fan of SVU, this will probably be long and boring. Heck, even if you ARE a fan of SVU, this still might be long and boring. Don't say I didn't warn you. :)

Skating With The Stars, Under the Stars [Apr. 1st, 2008|10:14 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , , , , ]

On Monday, I spent a lovely evening in Central Park. Wollman Ice Rink to be exact. There was a benefit being held for Figure Skating In Harlem called Skating With the Stars, Under the Stars. In short, a bunch of world class figure skaters were on hand and (for the price of an admissions ticket to the event) you could skate with them. Now, I did not actually pay to go in. At the time, I didn't know enough about the organization to know if I wanted to support it (there was a little bit of my hockey snobbery going on, too, lol). But it seemed like it would be fun to go watch (especially if there would be any performances by the skaters). It turns out, there was only one performance (by the pros, at least). Nevertheless, it was a super enjoyable and a different evening out with celebrity spotting, people watching, the always fun and exciting zamboni watching, and to top it off, good company.

OK. I had to update this. If you’ve been reading along for the last several months, you’ll remember my excitement at this day of watching them film SVU when they were at a “grave” site and I might have been in the background of some of the shots, etc, etc. as expressed with joy and enthusiasm here: Filming.

Well, the episode finally aired. )

*blush* more SVU [Oct. 24th, 2007|02:47 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , , ]

So, I've been away from this blog for a bit dealing with life but I do have a couple of updates from the last couple of weeks that I hope to get up by the end of the week. But in the mean time....

Free time in NY: some people like to go to the Park to people watch, some people like to pick a street they've never been on and just walkabout, some people like to go to Broadway shows, some people like to take the Staten Island ferries and just stare at the Statue of Liberty just because. I like to do all those things...and I also like to watch them make TV....especially when it's taking place just one block from my apartment. :)

And by film making, I mean Law and Order: SVU (of course), lol. From Monday 10/22.

Downtown Walkabout [Jun. 30th, 2007|10:11 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , , , , ]

Colleen doesn’t quite get my fixation with Downtown Manhattan. Heck, maybe I don’t, either. But I. Love. It. There’s so much about it that I love. Not just the courthouses (though those are my favs) but everything. Anyway, Saturday was this spectacular day. And I decided I needed to go on a downtown walkabout. So, around 10:30, I packed up some sunscreen and a book and my camera and headed out. I wanted to hit Ground Zero and see how construction was coming and then maybe head down to Battery Park and either take the Staten Island Ferry or just hang out in the park a bit and read.

It didn’t go exactly as planned (more on that in bit) but I did accomplish some of what I set out to do.

Here are some photos from the day: )

I thought I was excited about L&O: CI filming... [Jun. 22nd, 2007|09:35 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , , , , , ]

So. I went jogging Wednesday evening. On my way back I saw a bunch of filming notices on Spring just around the corner from my apartment. Curious, I went to see what was being filmed….and be still my beating heart. SVU. Law and Order SVU was going to be filming in my neighborhood all day Thursday. Guess who wasn't going to work?

The day started slowly but ended up being a total day of SQUEE!

Slow and slightly discouraging start… )
